What FLASH means to me:

I joined FLASH when I started Parkrun mid 2014.  I wasn’t really sure what to expect at that time, but it seemed like a good idea – and who can resist the lovely Nicole whose enthusiasm for life is infectious.

Since then I have met, either online or in person, the most fantastic group of women.  I have reached out when I needed encouragement and support and in turn have, I hope, been able to do the same for others.

If you are looking for a group that will challenge your thinking, encourage you to embrace life and give you somewhere you can share the good times, ask advice and know you will get a kind word exactly when you need it, then FLASH is the place.

FLASH are women who give life a go!

We are motivated: Active. Stronger. Healthier.

We are better together: Support. Encouragement. Unity.

We’re not your typical support group: We’re women who love to try new things and inspire others to try new things too.

We get it: It’s easier to say no. It’s easier to hide. But women need to rise. Women need to unite. When we put our mind to it, anything is possible!

If you’re looking for a health program that gives you motivation, support, accountability and most importantly, FUN - then FLASH is for you.

Lyn - I am so excited to be completing my 50th parkrun! It has been an important part of my journey to a much healthier lifestyle. I was the typical yo-yo dieter for most of my adult life and like many women with a family, looking after myself came well down on my list of priorities. A fewer years ago I was referred to Nicole Barber - at that point I was overweight again, some of my blood test results weren't fantastic and more significant to me was the effect my weight was having on my joints, aggravating osteoarthritis and stopping me from enjoying some of my favourite activities. After visiting Nic, things just clicked (I think sometimes being in a healthy state is a little like a rubic's cube!) I started to really think about food, made a regular commitment to exercise and changed my mindset. Small rewards have helped along the way - a smaller dress size, a parkrun PB, improved health test results. I have lost about 25kg and my challenge is to keep working to maintain this! Thank you FLASH ladies for your support and encouragement! I wish you all well on your journey- my only advice is to remember that your journey is your own, your circumstances, goals and motivation are unique- but the feeling when you get the combination right is fantastic! Found out at Christmas that our first grandchild is due in August- I aim to be a very healthy and cool nanna!

FLASH means I have the support to carry on and keep my head above water -  Deb S
